Georges Helfer S.A., based in Gland
(since 1965) is a company which specialises in importing
and distributing fruits and vegetables from overseas on the
Swiss market. It has a modern warehouse suited for storing
and ripening exotic fruits. The logistic allows the company
to quickly serve all of the Swiss distribution chains and
wholesalers.
At the warehouse there is storage capacity for around 750 pallets and this
includes an unloading area (roll-on, roll-off) for aircraft pallets which
are shipped directly to us from the airport, 6 cool rooms and 3 ripening
rooms. In fact we ripen a certain numbers of products: our leading products,
such as avocado, mango and papaya, which we can offer to our customers
pre-ripened all year round with excellent results -which we have been doing
for several years already.
In order to improve our ripening services, the company is setting up a
new system which can measure the firmness of the fruit. |

Unlike the group's other sites,
which specialise in mass consumer products (avocados, mangos,
kiwi fruits, citrus fruits, etc.), our Swiss base offers a full
range of exotic fruits and numerous specialities such as mini-vegetables,
various kinds of pepper, miscellaneous root vegetables, etc.
We are currently in the process of certification under the BRC - British Retail
Consortium - standard and we have been Bio Suisse-accredited
since December last year. This will allow us to extend our business to organic
products. |
